Invoices: Line Items, Multiple Invoices, Payment Instalments

The Problem:

The way that the invoicing system currently works is too rigid for some photographers. Photographers would like to be able to customise their client's payment structure to allow:

- Payment plans / payment instalments

- More than one invoice per shoot

- Allow tipping after a shoot

- Being able to add quantities and custom line items to invoices

Hey there, This is fantastic! I actually dont have any invoice to issue for the rest of the year at this point. REALLY HAPPY ABOUT THIS CHANGE, thanks guys.

We are preparing an app release (version 4.5.7) which will include this change, as well as a few quality of life improvements for invoicing. We are looking enable this feature for some interested photographers to get some early feedback.

Please send me an email at [email protected] if you would like to be an early tester of this functionality. Include the email address you use for your Unscripted account in your email 😁

Otherwise this will be fully rolling out to all users early next year.

Yes! Agreed. I give the two options (retainer + remaining balance) but sometimes I have a client who ends up paying half of their balance.... But on their side it only looks like they paid the retainer since there's not really a good way to adjust the checkbox totals. I add notes, but it looks funky on the clients end and to them it looks like they only paid the retainer, and not half of their total balance.

Yes I would love this. I give discounts on certain things and Math is hard (haha). Like the iption to do a percentage and/or a straight dollar amount discount.

Gabe Grieve Is there any rough idea of timeline for this? As my bookings grow im finding that unscripted is not meeting mine and my customers invoice needs. Ideally looking to switch platforms if this isn’t something in the near future.

Hi Lindsey Millar thanks for reaching out. At the moment, we are in the middle of a pretty substantial rebuild of our business architecture - a necessary first step to enable us to make big changes to our invoicing system.

Once that is complete, our first priority is to tackle some minor invoice changes (like being able to add quantities and custom line items to invoices). Once that is complete, the current plan is to explore the option to add multiple invoices per shoot, and finally the ability to break those invoices down in to multiple payment instalments.

It's a bit of a long road ahead, but it's our key priority at this stage. We'll keep you in the loop when we have any updates.

I agree that different forms of accepting payments is crucial. Payment via Venmo is a common ask from my clients.

Absolutely need to have payment plans and tipping! I didn’t realize this wasn’t a feature when moving from my old CRM and now I want to move back because my clients really liked having payment plans and the tips were such a great addition!

Yes please to multiple invoices per shoot. It's not great for clients to see what they've already spent when I'm trying to upsell galleries 😬

This isn't helpful for the payment plans, but in the automations portion on the app, you can set up auto emails! I have payment reminders go out. You can set the dates and time it goes out

This!!! I’m a lifetime subscriber but I’ve been heavily considering switching to a new platform just to make it easier for my clients to make their payments because 2 large payments is not always the best for them

Yes please! Payment plans or at least the option to add payments made would be great. The lack of this feature has me using other applications that would be unnecessary and save us money if we could do it here . It would create a more structured payouts as business owners that would help a lot

Yes! I would also like to have a quantity option. I offer additional photos and every time someone wants a different amount I have to create a new product. It would be nice to just have the option to change the quantity.
